Faringdon is on the look out for a new market town coordinator after Vale of White Horse District Council agreed to provide £40,000 to help boost the town's economy. Over the last two years significant effort has been made to improve vibrancy and vitality of the town, with footfall increasing by 25 per cent between 2014 and 2015. The work to promote and revitalise the town is overseen by the recently formed Faringdon Town Team, made up of representatives from the district, town and county council, as well as from local business groups. The Town Team are now looking for a motivated individual to be responsible for promoting and marketing Faringdon as a great place to live, work, visit and invest. The role, which is based at Faringdon Town Council, is being supported by a £40,000 award from the Vale. The money will be allocated over a two year period to help the town achieve a range of actions to improve the visitor experience and bring more people to the area. Cllr Matthew Barber, Leader of Vale of White Horse District Council, said: “We’ve been really pleased with the work people in Faringdon have put in over the last couple of years to help make the town appeal to a wider audience. We want to keep this going so have allocated additional funding to support a new town coordinator.”
