Bin deliveries delayed - but should be in on time!

Tuesday, 14 September, 2010

Residents in some of the more rural parts of the Vale are still waiting for their wheelie bins to arrive. I am told that the delays are limited to rural areas where a smaller vehicle is being used, but I'm assured by officers that all of the bins should be with people in time for the start of the new scheme on 4th October. You can click here for a list of which places have/have not been delivered (please note the list is only accurate as of today). If you have any questions about the delivery of your bin, you can call 03000 610610 or email admin.vale@verdant-group.co.uk.Those residents who are being given sacks, should already have received them as I'm told this process is complete. If you were not home when the Council tried to deliver them (they need to be signed for) you should have a received a card informing you that they can be collected from one of the following locations:- Vale of White Horse District Council Offices, Abbey Close, Abingdon - Tourist Information Centre, The Corn Exchange, Gloucester Street, Faringdon - Wantage Civic Hall, Portway, WantageThe Conservatives on the Council opposed the introduction of the scheme at the time. Now the decision has been taken we will do our best to make the system work as best it can. We would however change the scheme, giving people the choice between bins or sacks and investigating the possibility of going back to weekly collections.
