Bins in parts of Abingdon to be emptied before homecoming parade

Wednesday, 22 May, 2013

The homecoming parade in Abingdon on Friday morning is an opportunity to welcome home the soldiers of Dalton Barracks after serving overseas. Unfortunately, the parade coincides with waste collection day in Abingdon so our waste operatives Biffa are making an extra collection at 6:30am on Friday morning so that bins can be cleared off the street before the parade begins. Where possible, we are requesting that residents of the streets listed below put out their bin on Thursday night and if they're available, to bring them back in before the parade starts. We understand that this won't be possible for all residents though, so the crews will return to these streets later in the day to collect waste from any bins that weren't out first thing in the morning. Streets in Abingdon receiving a collection first thing on Friday morning:

  • Ock Street
  • High Street
  • Stert Street
  • East and West St Helen Street
  • Bridge Street
