Celebrate the summer with 'Love Parks' activities for just £1!

Wednesday, 15 July, 2015

Adults across the Vale of White Horse have the opportunity to try a whole host of low cost outdoor activities taking place in parks across both districts this summer. Sessions which cost just £1 each, including volleyball, tennis, bootcamp, mother and baby Yoga, rounders and football, will be on offer from 25 July through to 25 August. Activities are open to everyone over the age of 16, no matter what ability or experience someone has. Although our sessions cater for adults, children 10 years and older are welcome to join in as long as the parent/carer takes full responsibility for them. Sessions will be led by a qualified instructor and all equipment required will be provided. The month long programme of events is being put on by the district council to mark ‘Love Parks’, a national celebration of our outdoor spaces that begins with ‘Love Parks Week’ starting on 24 July. Leader of Vale of White Horse District Council, Cllr Matthew Barber, said: "It's not just the kids who like to get out and about during the summer so it’s great to see some very low cost activities being provided specifically for adults. This is a great opportunity to use our parks to get active and meet new people." Cllr Charlotte Dickson, Cabinet Member for Leisure at Vale of White Horse District Council, said: "We have some fantastic parks in the Vale, so what better way to celebrate than to get out and enjoy the summer and try a new outdoor activity. With the great weather we’ve had so far I’m sure these sessions will fill up quickly so make sure you book early." To find the full list of Love Parks activities and sign up for a session all you need to do is visit www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk/loveparks and then choose your activity, date and venue.
