Celebrating volunteers in the Vale

Tuesday, 21 October, 2014

Volunteers in the Vale of White Horse have been recognised at a recent awards ceremony.

The Beacon in Wantage saw over 60 volunteers attended the ceremony with Council Chairman Councillor Mike Badcock to celebrating their exceptional work for the district.

Nominations for the awards were made by district councillors, parish councils and local community groups.

Volunteers came from schools, fire and rescue services, and scout groups amongst many others and they were all honoured for their contribution to the local community.

Cllr Mike Badcock, chairman of the Vale of White Horse District Council, said: “volunteer work benefits all aspects of community life. This ceremony is one way of thanking hardworking people across the district who selflessly work to make the Vale of White Horse a better place.”
