Final changes were made last night to the District's Community Governance Review. The Review sets out changes to parish boundaries for the 2015 elections. Following extensive work by the working party, and responding to representations made by several parishes a full set of proposals was agreed, despite opposition from the Liberal Democrats who made it clear that their proposals were politically motivated. Changes to the published proposals included: Rejecting CGR8 that would have moved parish boundaries between Chilton, East Hendred and Harwell at Harwell Campus. This was in response to concerns raised by parish councils. Rejecting CGR11 that would have moved Fernham Fields into Great Faringdon parish from Great Coxwell. This was at the request of Great Coxwell who felt the move was premature given the new housing development will not be completed for some time. Council was persuaded by their arguments and responded accordingly. Deferring CGR13 & CGR24 which would have affected the boundaries of Wantage, Grove, East Challow and Lockinge. These were deferred for further consideration to take into account future developments, and to seek a solution that could be agreed amicably by all parishes. Any changes will now not take place until after the 2015 elections. Amending CGR18 to accord with the wishes of both Fyfield & Tubney Parish Council and Kingston Bagpuize with Southmoor Parish Council who wished to see a much smaller area of land transferred between parishes. Agreeing Option 1 of CGR 21 which asks the newly created Community Governance Committee to review the boundaries between Sunningwell, Kennington and Radley to seek a proposal that all can agree on.
