Christmas

Vale of White Horse District Council offices are closed from 3pm on Friday 22 December and will reopen for business as usual on Tuesday 2 January.

Here are details of changes to our services that remain in operation over Christmas:

Waste and recycling collections

Our waste and recycling collections will take place over Christmas and into the new year but your collections will happen on a different day to the rest of the year – to find our revised collection days and for advice on what to do with your Christmas waste see your collections at Christmas and New Year.

Severe Weather

For advice on what to do in the event of flooding, snow and high winds (including power cuts) please check our severe weather page.

Leisure Centres

Our leisure centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.  They are open on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve but will close at 4pm. For details of opening hours throughout the rest of the holiday period please check the Better website .

Other emergencies

Our emergency helpline on 01235 422420 is available to assist with serious noise problems, dangerous structure, flooding, a dead animal on the highway or if you are in danger of becoming homeless. We can also collect stray dogs.

Planning applications

Any new planning applications we receive after 5pm on Thursday 21 December will be dated as received on the 2 January.  For major applications, the cut-off is midday on Tuesday 19 December.

Benefits and Council tax

Our online services will continue to be available as normal.  If you need to further assistance during the holiday period our benefits and council tax phone line, 0345 302 2315, will be available 9am to 5pm between 27 and 29 December.
