Delay in Tesco planning application

Saturday, 14 August, 2010

The Tesco planning application for Park Road was going to be considered bythe Vale of White Horse District Council's planning committee on 1stSeptember. I've just been informed that it has been delayed as there arestill several issues for the officers to address. I'll publish the new dateas soon as it's confirmed. Whenever the meeting takes places I'll beattending to speak against the application. My opposition isn't to Tesco assuch, or even a new supermarket in the town, it is the location, which wouldbe crippling to local trade, and destroy any efforts to regenerate themarket place. There are clear planning reasons why this application shouldbe rejected and I hope the committee will do so in due course.
