Don’t let your pumpkin be a left over ghoul

Bin crews across the Vale are geared up for the gory task of collecting left over pumpkins once the Halloween spooks have died down.

To help ensure this waste ends up being composted along with other food waste residents should place any pumpkin left overs inside or on top of their food waste bin.

People should not put pumpkin waste in any other bin, especially not in their recycling – if our crews are confronted by this gruesome horror being placed in the wrong bin, they won’t collect the recycling, instead they will leave an ‘Ooops’ note explaining what to do.

Cllr Matthew Barber, Leader of Vale of White Horse District Council, said: “Please don’t put any pumpkin waste, or any food waste in your recycling bin – it that happens then we can’t collect your recycling which would be truly frightful. Remember, your recycling will only magically disappear if it’s left out for collection loose in your green wheelie bin or in a clear sack.”
