Faringdon latest area to get super fast broadband

Monday, 19 December, 2011

Faringdon is one of 178 telephone exchanges to be upgraded to super fast broadband during 2012. This will improve the range of internet services available to many households in the area. Faringdon joins Abingdon and Wantage which have already have super fast broadband, and the Blewbury exchange which will be upgraded by 31st March next year. All of the Vale's 18 telephone exchanges are enabled 'up to 8Mps' but this is often inadequate for even domestic users, let alone businesses. The Vale are working in partnership with Oxfordshire County Council to improve the level of service in rural areas. We are bidding for Government funding to help improve the level of broadband across the whole district. The news that Faringdon is now being upgraded as well is good news, but is just the beginning of things to come.
