Ten properties in East Hanney are each set to benefit from £4,250 of flood protection measures after the council was successful in a bid for Environment Agency grant funding. The funding, from the EA’s Local Levy scheme, will be used to fund individual assessments for the properties and practical improvements to reduce the risk of flooding, such as covering air bricks, fitting new flood proof doors or door barriers, sealing of floors or raising electrical sockets. The houses selected have all flooded previously, primarily in 2007, and all face a higher risk of future flooding, as determined by EA flood risk maps. The council is responsible for delivering the work by the end of March 2012.
