This evening I was in Westminster giving evidence to the Communities and Local Government (CLG) Select Committee. I was asked to give evidence as part of the committee's inquiry into the operation of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). A number of parishes and other interested groups in the Vale have also submitted evidence to the inquiry. The Vale's submission focused on the problems caused by the 5 year land supply requirement, especially the 20% buffer required for authorities who have underachieved in the past. The Vale's written evidence can be viewed here. The hearing this evening was cut short slightly due to the previous session - the Jay Report into child sexual exploitation in Rotherham - overrunning. Much of the focus of the questioning was on viability and the Duty to Cooperate.
