'Go postal' for the 2015 Elections

Thursday, 5 February, 2015

People across the Vale of White Horse are being urged to sign up to ‘Go Postal’ and vote by post in the 2015 elections. If you sign up to vote by post you will receive your voting pack up to three weeks before polling day. This gives you plenty of time to find out more about the candidates and make an informed choice before dropping your form into your nearest post box. It will also save you from having to make the trip to queue at your local polling station on polling day, and with polling day falling on a bank holiday week, voting early by post will mean there’s one less thing to worry about if you are planning on taking a break. The coming days will see many people joining in to encourage others to Go Postal. Staff at district council leisure centres across the Vale of White Horse will be helping to spread the message to hundreds of fitness enthusiasts on Thursday by wearing special ‘Go Postal’ t-shirts to work. They will also be joined by those working at The Beacon in Wantage and in the reception at the council offices in Abbey House, Abingdon. The Vale’s ‘Go Postal’ effort is part of a series of activities taking place this week for National Voter Registration Day, a nationwide effort to get as many people registered to vote as possible, taking place on Thursday 5 February. Those wishing to Go Postal are reminded that they need to register to vote first. To register to vote, to Go Postal, or to find out more about the 2015 Elections please visit www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk/elections. Other activities taking place during the week of National Voter Registration Day include the launch the Vale’s 2015 Election flyer 'Your vote Your voice Your choice' – this is now publicly available for the first time and will be sent to all residents in March along with their council tax bill.
