Vale of White Horse District Council offers a range of grants to support projects, last year the council awarded over £385,000 to the voluntary sector! To help you find out about the different types of funding that is available here is a short guide to the grants we have on offer: Capital community grants The Vale offers grants to any community organisation, this means that up to £5,000 could be allocated to a community project. However only capital expenditure, which includes upgrading buildings, extensions or equipment, will be considered under the scheme. The capital community grant scheme is now open for applications and will close on 30 September 2013. Festival Grants This grant is to support local festivals or events held in the district. Grants are available up to £1,000 and applications can be made all year round. Grants will be determined on the basis that the organisation provides evidence that the project has a substantial amount of local community support and a good amount of beneficiaries. Disabled Facilities Grants The Disabled Facilities Grant goes toward covering the costs of helping disabled people continue to live independently in their own home. The grant, up to £30,000, can pay for work lsuch as widening doorways, installing ramps, improving access e.g. to the bathroom, and adapting heat and light controls. Our housing team can carry out a provisional means test to find out if you are likely to qualify for a grant before you apply as funds are limited so will be allocated to those in greatest need. Community Games Fund The Community Games Fund offers up to £200 to support local communities with organising their own games event. Applications are now open and must be submitted by 30 September. To qualify for funding the event:
- must take place within the Vale
- must be registered as a Community game
- must include sport and cultural activities
- must include an opening and/or an closing cermeony.
