Flower, music, and food festivals are just a few of the events that could benefit from a share of £10,000 the Vale of White Horse District Council has made available to help community events get off to a flying start. Live at the Tithe and the Flying Pig Festival are just some of the events that have already benefited from the Vale’s festival and events scheme, which aims to help new events and festivals to get off the ground. Open all year round, the scheme can help community groups and voluntary organisations to hold not-for-profit festivals or events in the Vale of White Horse district. Organisations can apply for up to £1,000 for any costs that would help to make their events/festivals a success like posters and programmes to promote the event, hiring walkie-talkies to keep everything running smoothly or hiring tables and chairs to make sure everyone’s comfortable. Councillor Matthew Barber, cabinet member for grants, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for any community groups to get a financial boost for their event. As the scheme is open all year round, communities can even start thinking about applying for funding for Christmas events, or plan ahead for next summer.” For more information, visit www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk/grants.
