New business competition to boost southern Oxfordshire start ups

New businesses looking to grow their operations could get a major boost if they enter the Southern Oxfordshire New Business Competition.

The winner will receive a 12 month package of support including a free serviced office or workshop, expert marketing and social media advice, IT consultancy and support, skilled accountancy services, a full programme of business mentoring and publicity.

The competition, organised by commercial property landlords and business mentors, Jennings, is open to any business or entrepreneur living or operating in South Oxfordshire or the Vale of White Horse in their first two years of trading (as at 31 December 2016) and is being supported by South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district councils.

Cllr Mike Murray, Cabinet Member for Economic Development at Vale of White Horse District Council, said: “We are looking for the brightest rising new starts in local business, no matter their trade or industry. If you are a new business and looking to grow your market make sure you enter the competition.”

Cllr Robert Simister, Cabinet Member for Economic Development at South Oxfordshire District Council, said: “This will be a great opportunity for new businesses to showcase their achievements and be in with a chance of winning a superb prize to help them grow over the next twelve months.”

Chris Williams, Commercial Manager, from competition organisers, Jennings, said; “This is a great opportunity for a new enterprise to become even more established and join the friendly business community here at Monument Park at Chalgrove.  The range of prizes, valued at well over £10,000, is designed to boost their business to the next level.  The recognition of their success and PR opportunities through media coverage of New Business Competition is another added bonus!”

The South Oxfordshire New Business Competition is being organised by Jennings and supported by Vale of White Horse District Council and South Oxfordshire District Council.

Timings:

  • All entries to be received by 28 February 2017
  • All shortlisted applications will be interviewed by a judge (judges are made up by nominated sponsors)
  • All entrants will be notified in writing as to whether or not they are a finalist by 10 March 2017
  • The winner will take part in a presentation on Friday 7 April 2017
