New Didcot-Harwell ‘Connector’ Service welcomed by Science Vale

Tuesday, 14 July, 2015

The new Didcot ‘connector’ service launched by Thames Travel has been welcomed by businesses and civic leaders in Science Vale. The new service significantly improves the X1/X32 service running between Didcot Parkway and Didcot Town Centre to Harwell Campus, meaning that buses will now leave up to every 15 minutes during the daytime, Monday to Friday. The service, which includes distinctive new vehicle liveries and free WiFi available on every bus, will significantly improve public transport links between Didcot Station and Harwell Campus for commuters and those visiting for business, helping to increase travel choice for the area. The service enhancement is being supported by funding from central government with the aim of promoting sustainable travel options, which also includes cycle and travel information initiatives, within the Science Vale area. Angus Horner from Harwell Campus welcomed the new service, saying: ’It is fantastic to see the smart new buses in operation. I have seen them arriving on Campus packed with people who are hugely appreciative of these higher frequency and faster journeys.” Cllr Matthew Barber, leader of Vale of White Horse said: “The new service is a real boost for those working at the Harwell Campus. A bus running every 15 minutes will give people much more freedom on when they can travel and also help to reduce the amount of cars travelling around the Harwell area.”
