Parking in district council car parks in the Vale of White Horse will be free on Saturday 11 June. Around the country people will be celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday and to mark the occasion the Vale of White Horse District Council is offering free parking in all its off-street car parks in Abingdon, Faringdon and Wantage. There are a number of events happening in the towns on Saturday 11 June to celebrate the Queen’s birthday. Allowing people to park for free will mean they can spend time enjoying the events, and visiting local shops and cafes, without having to worry about extra cost of paying to park. On this bonus free day motorists will not have to display a ticket when they park. Cllr Eric Batts, Cabinet Member for technical services at Vale of White Horse District Council, said: “We know there’s going to be lots of events happening around the district on Saturday 11 June to mark the Queen’s birthday, so we thought it would be great if people could celebrate without having to worry about paying to park.”
