Residents to influence the future of Botley shopping area

Friday, 21 August, 2015

Vale of White Horse District Council is asking people to comment on a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for Botley which will assist the redevelopment and enhancement of the centre, and set out guidance on the type (for example shops, offices, houses public open space etc) and scale of development that would be appropriate. The Supplementary Planning Document will be a huge benefit to everybody involved in the potential redevelopment of the Botley centre and ensure that the local community has an influence over the future development of the area. The SPD will have material weight in the determination of future development proposals for the centre. It will set a framework for high quality urban design principles, land uses, transport and viability to ensure that current and future needs are accommodated sustainably. To have your say on the Supplementary Planning Document and help influence the future of Botley’s shopping area please visit www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk/botleyspd. The consultation closes on Friday 25 September at 4.30pm. Cllr Matthew Barber, said: “Botley Centre is an important development opportunity that represents a great chance to create a sustainable development and meet the needs of the Vale. It’s a very well connected location in the heart of Oxfordshire and an opportunity that we want to make the most of.” “This Supplementary Planning Document will ensure that people can have an influence over how this important part of the Vale will develop. We know that people from all ages and backgrounds are passionate about the future of this area and are keen to ensure that it meets their needs.”
