Current weather forecasts suggest that we can expect quite heavy snow in the Vale of White Horse tomorrow (Friday 18 January). If the snowfall is heavy, it has the potential to disrupt our waste collection service. Our waste crews will be starting their rounds an hour early (6am) on Friday 18 January to try and get as many bins emptied as possible before the worst of the snow hits, so please leave your bins out tonight to ensure you aren’t missed. If your bin is not collected due to the weather tomorrow, please leave your bin out at the roadside for collection. Please visit the Council's website for up to date with information on when we expect to begin collections again. http://whitehorsedc.gov.uk/services-and-advice/environment/severe-weather/snow. If there is disruption, we will report any changes to collections through the following channels:
- the Vale's website (link above) is the best place to go for up to the minute, detailed information about any disruption and when you can expect your bins to be collected
- we will send messages via our smartphone app Binfo (click the link for information on how to download the app) and to existing subscribers of our text message service
- we will be providing updates via our twitter account
- we will notify local media, particularly the local radio stations BBC Radio Oxford, Jack FM and Heart Thames Valley.
We always work hard to ensure our waste collections go ahead, but the safety of the general public, our waste collection crews and property always takes priority. Please also see the following links for more advice and updates in the event of bad weather:
