Standing for CCA Board

Wednesday, 27 January, 2016

The local government landscape is always changing, but the future has rarely been as uncertain as it is now. Councils are and must take advantage of the current redrawing of local government and drive the improvements our residents deserve. I have led the Vale of White Horse District Council through the challenges of shared services with our neighbouring district (something we pioneered in Oxfordshire which is increasingly common practice); the unique 5 Councils Corporate Services Contract, which is set to save the public purse more than £50m; and even a fire that devastated our shared offices just over a year ago. My vision is for districts to play a stronger role within the CCA. The nation’s need for more housing is one of the most pressing issues of our day and it is districts which are grappling with this challenge and delivering the new homes the country needs. The voice of districts must be heard within the CCA, by our ministerial team and indeed in the wider local government world. Districts should be leading the way on delivering efficiencies, innovation and driving devolution bids. I am asking for your support in the CCA Board Elections so I can be that voice and ensure districts are in the lead. Download my CV (.pdf)
