A woman has been ordered to pay £265 after admitting dumping waste inFaringdon. Stacey Whitlock, 25, of The Lees, Faringdon, pleaded guilty at DidcotMagistrates' Court on Tuesday (17.08.10) to fly-tipping a large quantity ofdomestic waste in hedgerows along Fernham Road on 10 April this year. The waste, which had been dumped about 100 metres from the end of the roadnext to a metal gate, included four refuse sacks containing cans, newspapersand plastic. Whitlock was caught after a member of the public reported the fly-tip to theVale of White Horse District Council. An Environment Warden who went out toinspect the site was able to trace the rubbish back to where it originatedfrom thanks to letters that had been discarded in the bags. Whitlock was interviewed under caution on 28 April when she admitted dumpingthe waste. She stated that she had been on route to dispose of the rubbishat the Stanford in the Vale Recycling Centre at the time, however had cutthe trip short after receiving a personal call and had then decided to dumpthe rubbish. Whitlock, who has since apologised for her actions, was fined £50 andordered to pay a further £215 in costs.
